Let your wallet do the talking. Buy tickets to shows that celebrate inclusion. Then write to producers and tell them you want to see more of it. Decision makers are led by numbers and this is one way we can all make a difference.
The Hypocrites and The Chicago Humanities Festival presents The Stronger, Faster

In a performance created for Fallfest/16: Speed, Sean Graney, artistic director of premier off-Loop theater company The Hypocrites, has taken a boundary-pushing one-act play by Strindberg, The Stronger, and pushed it even further. Come wine, dine, and experience the unique musical and theatrical style of The Hypocrites and their debut show. You will not have seen anything like it—we promise.
Audience members attending this program must be 21 and up. This program will have a mixture of seating and standing room. Seating is first-come, first-served.

Michael and Margaret have been married and living in the same house for the past 30 years, and tonight their daughter Adele is bringing a nice boy home for dinner. However, what should have been a pleasant gathering eventually leads this loving family to finally confront the secrets in their past they’ve long fought to keep covered up.
Seating is limited. This event is free and open to the public, but RSVP is required. Reservations will be accommodated on a first come, first served basis. Please plan to arrive early as there will be no late seating.

Free Street Theatre presents 100 Hauntings
directed and developed by Coya Paz and Bobby Biedrzyck
An elevator operator named Jorge doesn't know he's dead. A passive aggressive ghost defends his territory at the corner of Division and Western. A mysterious pattern of red lined maps chokes the city into decades-long segregation. In 100 Hauntings, created by an intergenerational ensemble of performers, comedians, writers and community organizers, Free Street asks who and what is haunting Chicago. Fresh off of a campfire style tour in public parks this summer, 100 Hauntings moves inside for a longer, multimedia performance starting October 14th just in time for Halloween.
The intergenerational ensemble includes Christine Bowen, Annette Britton, Dan Cobbler, Emmanuel Dunagan, Daisy Franco, Noe Jara, Ysaÿe McKeever, Deanalis Resto, Alex Rodriguez, Elijah Ruiz, Izzy Strazzabosco, and Aimy Tien.

ATC CORE presents The Displaced

Marísa and Lev have just moved into their new Pilsen apartment in hopes of rekindling a spark that's long been extinguished. While looking for the circuit breaker in the attic, a mysterious coconut appears, leftover from the previous tenants with a dark history inside it. Isaac Gomez’s The Displaced explores the wake of pain and yearning left behind when gentrification forces people out of their homes and the kind of vengeance that can come from that displacement. What starts off as a seemingly traditional two-person relationship drama quickly unfolds as a psychological thriller that ultimately culminates with horror theater elements as components of Santeria are introduced in the play. CORE awards a week of free rehearsal space and an evening showing of the work in progress to each artist. Tickets are free with a suggested 15 dollar donation to help us underwrite the cost of supporting two and a half months of artists in residence at ATC! Your support is vital to keep programming like this available at no cost to artists.
